  • Agate: Gitche Gumee Agate and History Museum; large collection of incredible Lake Superior agates; Grand Marais
  • Air Heritage: K. I. Sawyer Heritage Museum; works to promote and preserve the heritage and aviation history of K.I. Sawyer and honor veterans; located at closed former US Air Force Base which had been home to various aircraft–including fighters, bombers, air refueling, air rescue and reocvery, training, and communication

  • Cliffs Shaft: Cliffs Shaft Mine Museum; Marquette Range Iron Mining Heritage Theme Park; Ishpeming
  • Coppertown: History of the boom in copper mining; Calumet; covers the history of copper mining in the region which has been tracked back to five thousand years ago when unknown miners chipped at exposed copper and traded it throughout the Americas; covers the 19th and early 20th century boom in copper mining in the Keweenaw Peninsula when Calumet, from 1890 to 1910, became the most populous UP city ever before or since–with over 60,000 people
  • Houghton Co: Houghton Country Historical Museum; home of the Copper Country Railroad Heritage Center; Lake Linden
  • Iron Co: Iron County Historical Museum; the largest outdoor museum in the UP; shows off history and art of the UP; Cultural Center; Lee LeBlanc Wildlife Art Gallery; Giovanelli Italianati Art Gallery;  Caspian near Iron River
  • Iron Mine: Tour an iron mine; guided tour 120 meters underground; 14 kilometers east of Iron Mountain on US 2 in Vulcan
  • Iron: Michigan Iron Industry Museum; shows displays related to the iron ore mining activities that continue today in the UP iron range; in Neguanee
  • Marquette Co: Marquette County History Museum; traces the history of the UP in the Marquette area from Native American times to the present
  • Marquette Maritime: Lake Superior and Great Lakes artifacts; lighthouse lens collection; Marquette Maritime Museum Association; in the old City Waterworks building, a one story, stone, hipped-roof Richardsonian Romanesque style structure designed by architect Demetrius Frederick Charlton
  • Mineral: AE Seaman Mineral Museum; Michigan Technological University; the official Mineralogical Museum of Michigan; collection of over 60,000 minerals, including from Michigan’s copper and iron mining districts; a cooperating site of the Keweenaw National Historical Park
  • Negaunee: Negaunee Historical Museum; house museum showing off a 19th century living room, dentist equipment, mining exhibits, and the city’s history
  • Ship: Valley Camp; lake freighter available for tours; Sault Ste. Marie; National Register of Historic Places historic vessel
  • Shipwreck: Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum and the Whitefish Point Light Station; at Whitefish Point in the eastern UP on Lake Superior
  • Ski Hall of Fame: US National Ski Hall of Fame and Museum; Ishpeming; US ski history
  • Sports Hall of Fame: Upper Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame; Iron Mountain; honors sports men and women have inspired the entire UP community in sports
  • UP Heritage: Beaumier Upper Peninsula Heritage Center; historical museum and educational facility on the campus of Northern Michigan University; works to promote and preserve the history and culture of the Upper Peninsula; Marquette
