Former NMU student and skier, Andy Liebner, will be in town to sign copies of his new book, Wild Shot, on April 22nd, 2012 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. in the Shiras room at the Peter White Public Library in Marquette, Michigan.
Liebner, whose grandmother hails from Trenary, was raised in Alaska and first moved to Marquette in 2002 after joining the U.S. Coast Guard. In 2005 he returned to Alaska to begin college and join the ski team. In 2010 Liebner won the U.S. Marathon series, and in 2011 he won the U.S. National College Cup and added two more All-American certificates to his resume while attending NMU for the 2010-11 season.
Wild Shot is outwardly about the external physical demands of the winter sports of cross-country skiing and biathlon, though on another level, it is a metaphor for a deeper quest of life. The book not only details some of Liebner’s own training and thrilling races but also delves into the mental and physical tips of other successful athletes he has worked with.
Autographed copies will be available for $20 each.
