The Marquette Regional History Center recently awarded Ben Mukkala the Helen Longyear Paul Award for the enhancement of local history.
Mr. Mukkala is a well known Marquette native, writing many entertaining books and articles too numerous to count about the history and people of the region. He also speaks to school groups, teaching them appreciation of history with engaging stories of the past, and has volunteered at the MRHC as a guide on cemetery tours. He is pictured with MRHC Trustee Carol Brady.
Other UPPAA past winners of the Helen Longyear Paul award include Lon and Lynn Emerick.
