First Annual Upper Peninsula Nature Writing Contest

Falling Rock Bookstore, Munising, MI

North Country Publishing of Skandia and Falling Rock Cafe & Bookstore of Munising, announce the First Annual Nature Writing Contest. Entrants must be current permanent Upper Peninsula residents.

Contest guidelines will be advertised in the April and May issues of the Marquette Monthly and in the Munising News on the first Wednesday of April and May. Deadline for entries is June 7th. Contest judges are  Upper Peninsula residents with an interest in writing and the natural world of the region.

The contest winner will receive a cash prize and have their entry published in the September issues of both papers. The winner and two honorable mention winners will be invited to read their entries and discuss writing at a Falling Rock Cafe & Bookstore gathering.     Recent clarification: “current permanent Upper Peninsula residents”. If you used to live in the U.P. or only visit occasionally in your summer cottage, you are ineligible.
