The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) Illustrator Coordinator, Ruth McNally Barshaw, envisioned a jam-packed event that would move creators one hefty step forward in their illustrative (and writing) careers. She knew that a full day with the celebrated fine artist and children’s book illustrator E.B. Lewis would be the catalyst, and that presentations by award-winning author/illustrators, Leslie Helakoski and Matt Faulkner, would enhance the experience. That day is now a reality!
The event is designed to focus on the illustrative hook of the book – that moment in the story that draws in tthe reader (and agent and/or editor). However, we know the content will be valuable to writers as well because understanding how illustrations impact story leads to better, more sellable writing.
Join Ruth and Charlie Barshaw, event co-coordinator + husband + writer, and friends old, new, and soon to be in what promises to be an unforgettable day – and a turning point in your career.
