North Country Publishing of Skandia and the Falling Rock Café and Bookstore of Munising announce the Third Annual U.P. Nature Writing Contest.   Following the success of the 2013 and 2014 contests, which saw entries from all over the peninsula, U.P. nature enthusiasts and writers are again invited to enter their work.
Winners in the 2014 contest were: Attending Every Tiny Funeral, by Kathleen Heideman, Marquette; Whichever Season is Next, by Amanda Rogers, Copper Harbor; All in a Day’s Walk  by Thomas Hoogterg, Engadine: Fiddleheads and Leeks by Rachel Mills, Marquette; and Can’t Wait to Get Back Home by Noah Hausmann, Gwinn.
The contest winner will receive a $250 prize and publication in the Marquette Monthly and the Munising News, with other publications by permission. Honorable Mention winners will receive Falling Rock Café and Bookstore gift cards.  Judges for the Nature Writing Contest are writers with a nature interest, from several Upper Peninsula locations.
Only Upper Peninsula residents are eligible to enter the contest; deadline for entries is June 13, 2015. Contest guidelines are available at the Falling Rock Café and Bookstore, the Marquette Arts and Culture Center, by emailing northco@up.net,  or if email is not available, by calling 1-906-942-7879.
