27th Annual Parade of Nations

27th Annual Parade of Nations

On Sep. 12, 2016, at the Portage Lake District Library in Houghton MI, three UPPAA authors will take part in a panel
discussion on writing about different ethnic groups. Deborah K. Frontiera, Cyndi Perkins and Larry Buege (and hopefully Larry Lankton)
will discuss with the public how they researched and wrote about various ethnic groups in the Copper Country. They are hoping for audience
participation and questions. The panel discussion will last about an hour.

Afterward, the authors’ books will be available for sale.

The Parade of Nations is sponsored by Michigan Tech U. and Finlandia U. as a way of introducing foreign students and their cultures
to the people of the Copper Country and celebrating diversity. The theme of this years festival is “Passport to the World.” There will
be several events throughout the week culminating with a parade and food, crafts and entertainment at Dee Stadium on Saturday, Sep. 17 from 12-4 p.m
